JERRY JOHNSON

Jerry L. "Knob" Johnson, age 75, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Los Alamitos Hospital due to complications of a stroke.

Jerry was born on June 23, 1939 in Osawatomie, Kansas to Clarence and Eva Yocum Johnson. He attended Osawatomie Schools, graduating from Osawatomie High School, class of 1957.

After graduating high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and being medically discharged while in boot camp due to his severe bouts of asthma. He then moved to California where he began a five year apprenticeship in plumbing while attending Fullerton College, where he met the love of his life, Sherry. On June 20, 1964, Jerry and Sherry were married in Los Alamitos, CA. Three daughters were born to this union.

Jerry spent 55 years in the plumbing industry, owning his own business in the last 30 years and working up until the time of his death. Jerry loved American History, especially the Civil War, always giving anyone who would listen little known facts that he thought you should know. He was also known for his "gift of gab", irreverent humor, and above all "questionable tall tales." Jerry loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas where he was known on a first name basis by the dealers and pit bosses. He loved any game of chance.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence "Knob" and Eva L. Johnson, a brother Robert and three sisters, Clarice Matney, Jane Aragon and Kathy Johnson.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sherry, of the home, daughters Laura Johnson, Lisa Ruiz and Jennifer Ruiz and two grandsons, Alex Ruiz and Caleb Nunes. He is also survived by a sister, Johanna L. Megyeri of Shawnee, KS, brothers-in-law, Chuck Emde (Martha) and Rick Emde (Andi), and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28th at Orangethorpe United Methodist Church in Fullerton, CA.
