THOMAS EUGENE "TOM" WALKER

JULY 16, 1938 - FEBRUARY 7, 2015

Thomas Eugene "Tom" Walker, age 76, of Stover, MO, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Boone Hospital in Columbia following a brief illness.

He was born July 16, 1938, in Osawatomie, KS, a son of Charles Henry and Eleanor Anna Francis Schoenfeldt Walker. On August 1, 1968, Tom was united in marriage to Betty Jean Wilson Hendrickson, who survives at the home.

He was a graduate of Kansas University, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. Tom worked as a lab chemist with Delco Battery in Olathe, KS, retiring after 30 years of employment.

Tom and Betty were known for their green thumbs, growing a bountiful garden behind their home in Stover. For many years they raised thousands of tomato plants to sell to venders throughout the southern part of Missouri.

He also enjoyed woodworking and reading, however his true passion was music. Tom was an accomplished musician, playing a variety of reed instruments, as well as the piano and organ.

He loved being with his family and was a devoted husband to Betty.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children and their spouses: Lynn Anthony Walker and Sandra Hopkins of Columbia, MO; Carla Rae and Casey Hunter of Sunrise Beach, MO; Keely Dawn and James Metscher of Macks Creek, MO; and Michael Thomas and Healther Walker of Stover, MO; a stepson, Wade Lee Hendrickson of Paola, KS; twenty grandchildren: Amber, Marissa Kyle, Asia Jeremy, Jacob, Cody, Sheyenne, Brock, Blake, Lance, Eleanor, Victoria, Luke, Josiah, Mikah, Jonah, Meteah, Lauren, and Bailey; six great-grandchildren: Annalise, Sarah, Kyler, Benjamin, Alexander, and Cora; along with other relatives and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Abraham Walker.

Services were held February 12, 2015 at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover, MO.

Memorial contributions were suggested to Alzhelmers Association.
