Services for Albert H. "George" Stanley, Wellsville, were held sunday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mr. Stanley, 57, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1993, in Olathe Medical Center.

The son of Henry Albert and Velma Ewing Stanley, he was born July 15, 1936, in Osawatomie. He grew up in Osawatomie, attended local schools and was a 1954 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

He worked for Western Electric-American Telephone & Telegraph Co. in Merriam for 31 years before retiring in 1988.

He and Lorene Green were married June 20, 1958, in Osawatomie. They lived in Olathe before moving to Wellsville to live in 1960.

Mr. Stanley's memberships included the United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge No. 356, both of Wellsville; Communication Workers of America; and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

He was a United States Navy veteran.

Among those preceding him in death was a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene, of the home; a son, H. Albert Stanley, Gardner; his mother of Osawatomie; a sister, Janet Bachman, Osawatomie; and two grandchildren.

The Rev. Glenn Layton Jr. officiated. Pallbearers were Phillip Bachman, Rick Bachman, Jaye Green, Doug Green, David Green, Rob Kitchen and Randy Kitchen. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.

Memorials have been established in his name to Olathe Hospice and American Cancer Society.
