ELEANOR JEAN KRAUS DAVIS

Eleanor Jean Davis age 79, of Rural Parker, Kansas died Friday, March 28, 2014 at North Point Skilled Nursing Center in Paola, Kansas.

Eleanor was born August 13, 1934 in Osawatomie, Kanas the second of four children to Frank Conrad and Ella Dora (Jewett) Kraus.

Eleanor grew up in Osawatomie and attended school in the Osawatomie school system, graduating with the class of 1953.

After graduating from high school, she worked as a nurse’s aide for the Osawatomie Rest Home and the Whitehouse Nursing Home in Paola, she also worked at Aggie’s Restaurant in Osawatomie.

On January 4, 1965 she married William Franklin “Bill” Davis at the Miami County Court House in Paola. The couple made their home in Osawatomie and raised one daughter, Theresa and Bills son, Billy Joe. They later moved to a farm in Rural Parker, Kansas. Eleanor and Bill were married for forty-seven years when Bill died June 30, 2012.

Eleanor was a stay at home wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking and baking for the family and working in her garden. She grew many different kinds of vegetables and strawberries but she loved flowers. One of her favorites was her purple vining Clematis.

In the 1970’s she and Bill were avid CB’ers known as “Buckeye Bill” and “Lady Luck”, Eleanor loved to talk to everyone on the CB. She was an animal lover and had several pets, including a Fox Terrier “Mitzy” her poodle “Danny” and a little mixed dog named Cinda Bell. Eleanor also raised many birds, Parakeets, Finches, Cockatiels and even a Parrot.

She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Osawatomie a current member of the United Methodist Church of Beagle, Kansas and a former member of the VFW Auxiliary of Osawatomie.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers: one infant brother Edward Kraus at birth and Frank Krause and one great granddaughter Haelie Springer.

She is survived by her daughter Theresa (Martin) Springer of Osawatomie, KS, three local grandchildren: Ian (Kerri) Springer, Christine Glyn and Kelly Springer: thirteen great-grandchildren: Zadee Springer, Jerrica Springer, Keyton Dickerson, Devon Smithhisler, Elana Smithhisler, Micah Glyn, Oakland Springer, Ayden Ortiz, Sienna Ortiz, William J. Davis Jr., Travis Davis, Jodi Davis, and Aaron Phelps.
