SHIRLEY MARIE COOK TROUTMAN

Shirley M. Troutman, age 62, of Osawatomie, KS died Friday, May 8, 1998 at her home. She was the daughter of Ralph Ernest and Winona Arnett Cook and was born February 13, 1936 in Osawatomie.

She grew up in Osawatomie, attended local schools and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1953. She was united in marriage to Francis L. Troutman on March 21, 1954 in Kansas City, KS. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of three children.

Shirley loved to be around people so the jobs she had over the years put her with people. She was a clerk at Meek's Drug Store, Lanning's Music Store, Ralph's Grocery Store and the Radio Shack. She was a church organist for over 35 years; she served at both the First Baptist Church and the First Christian Church. She also gave piano lessons.

She loved doing anything with her family. She also loved to fish and had a special place in her heart for her beagle dog, Dryfus. Shirley and Francis are expecting their first great-grandchild and two days before going into the hospital to begin her battle with cancer, she went shopping to buy her presents for the new great-grandchild.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter. She is survived by her husband, Francis of the home; her three children, Gary Troutman of Osawatomie, Brian Troutman of Burlington, KS and Nancy McRoberts of Osawatomie; her two brothers, Edwin Cook and Claron Cook, both of Osawatomie; twelve grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
