DECEMBER 9, 1935 - OCTOBER 18, 2004 

Barbara Lee Dever, 68, Osawatomie, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, in Life Care Center of Osawatomie.

She was born Dec. 9, 1935, in Osawatomie, the oldest of the two children of Everett H. and Beatrice Wools Caylor. She attended Osawatomie schools and was a 1953 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

On Jan. 22, 1959, she and Roderick Louis Dever were married in the First Presbyterian Church in Osawatomie. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of two daughters. Mr. Dever preceded her in death on April 12, 1986.

She worked as a bookkeeper at various businesses. At the age of 26, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. It was not until 1996 that the disease confined her to a wheelchair.

Mrs. Dever had many hobbies. She was an artist who liked to paint and draw. She loved to play the piano and sing. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and dancing. She also had a love for animals and liked to bake treats for her children and grandchildren.

Her memberships included the First Presbyterian Church of Osawatomie and Rebekahs.

Others preceding her in death included a grandson.

Survivors include her two daughters, Karen Colbert of Osawatomie and Kay Sauro of Paola; a brother, Eugene H. Caylor of Shawnee; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the church. Inurnment will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie is caring for the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the church or the Humane Society.
