CHARLES WILLIAM BARKER

Charles William Barker, 68, rural Osawatomie, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Olathe Medical Center.

Known as Charlie, he was born Jan. 9, 1935, in Osawatomie. He was the youngest of the five children of Thomas Robert and Emma Margaret Rauhut Barker. He was a 1953 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

Mr. Barker had worked in construction, but for most of his working years, he was an over-the-road trucker.

He and Janice Fay Inscore were married Nov. 4, 1954. They lived in the Osawatomie area and raised two children.

Mr. Barker was a member of the First Baptist Church of Osawatomie.

Those preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Ruth Blackwell.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Barker of the home; a son, Charles Ray Barker of Osawatomie; a daughter, Catherine Fay Barker of Osawatomie; a brother, Robert Barker of Osawatomie; two sisters, Betty Troutman of Osawatomie and Frances Troxel of Herington, Kan.; and three grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, followed by burial in Osawatomie Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his name at the First Option Bank in Osawatomie. .
