Myron Ray Rogers, 67, Garnett, a former Osawatomie resident, died Monday July 2, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

Mike, as he was known, was born May 8, 1934, In Harris, Kan., the son of Charles Loren and Bertha Wittman Rogers. Her grew up in Osawatomie and attended Osawatomie schools, graduating in 1952 from Osawatomie High School.

While in school, he played football and basketball and participated in track. Attending the University of Kansas, he continued to play football before graduating in 1957.

Mr. Rogers taught and coached at Oswego, Kan., from 1957 to 1959; in Holton, Kan., from 1959 until 1967 and in Clay Center, Kan., from 1967 until 1971.

After moving to Garnett in 1971, he sold sporting goods to 57 schools and was a founding partner in Mike's Sporting Goods in Emporia.

He was married to Dianne Robinson on Aug. 17, 1957, in Baldwin City.

Those preceding him in death were his parents, his stepfather, Wavey Galloway, and a brother, James Rogers.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne Rogers of Garnett; three sons, the Rev. Marc Wilson Rogers of Eastland, Texas, and Steven James Rogers and Scott Robinson Rogers, both of Topeka; a daughter, Susan Jean Rogers of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; a sister Jeanne Hornbuckle of Enumclaw, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

Services were July 4 at the First Presbyterian Church of Garnett. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery. Arrangements

were under the direction of Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Garnett.

Memorials may be made to the Anderson County Hospital, the church or the Anderson County Junior/Senior High School for the new track.
