Last rites for Lois Vernece Miller, Route 1, Lane, were held last Wednesday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Miller, 58, died Friday, May 28, 1993 in Olathe Medical Center.

The daughter of Roy Parker and Lela Sophia Bennington Glendenning, she was born August 2, 1934, in University Park, IA. While she was a young girl, the family moved to Osawatomie where she attended school, graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1952.

She and Howard Glen Miller were married June 8, 1952, in Wichita and they became the parents of four children.

They lived in most of the states west of the Mississippi because of his employment in construction. In 1975, they moved to Aransas Pass, TX., where they owned and operated a motel. Later, they purchased a shrimp boat and lived in Rockport, TX. In 1987, they returned in Osawatomie and had lived in Lane since 1988.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the Osawatomie Wesleyan Church and Hanlin-Kelly Post 2258 Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Osawatomie.

Among those preceding her in death were an infant son; and infant brother, and three sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Glen, of the home; two sons, Roy L. Miller, Lane, and Kenneth R. Miller, Liverpool, TX.; a daughter, Teresa Ann DeLeon, Osawatomie; four sisters, Grace Bernritter, Goddard, Eileen Jackson, Fort Scott, Harriett Bittick, Willow Springs, NC., and Noram Lee Webster, Lakewood, CO,; and five grandchildren.

The Rev. Dennis Bachman officiated. Angela Wastlund and Mark Alan Billingsley were soloists. Pallbearers were Travis Miller, Robert Miller, Daniel DeLeon, Mike Bernritter, Larry Jackson, Gary Kerr, DeWayne Miller, and Tony DeLeon. Burial was in Quaker Cemetery.

A memorial was established in her name to the American Diabetes Association.
