OCTOBER 30, 1933 - NOVEMBER 9, 1993

Robert LaVerne Cresse, 60, lifelong resident of Osawatomie, died Tuesday, November 9, 1993, at the Miami County Hospital in Paola.

Bob, as he was more commonly known, was born Oct. 30, 1993, at Osawatomie, the only child of Loman LaVerne and Ferne Shadley Cresse.

He grew up in Osawatomie, attended the schools there and graduated from Osawatomie High School in the Class of 1952.

He worked as an electrician for the Missouri Pacific Railroad.

He was married on Nov. 17. 1960, in Miami, OK., to Pauline Zuel. They became the parents of five children.

From the early 1960's to the early 1970's, Mr. Cresse worked at the Osawatomie State Hosital as an electrician. He became a brakeman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1973 until his health failed in 1988. during that time, he also worked as a self-employed electrician.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Osawatomie. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and was a former member of the Elks Lodge 921 of Osawatomie.

His parents and a grandson, Troy Richard Cresse, preceded him in death.

Those surviving are his wife, Pauline Cresse of the home; three sons, Doug Cresse of Paola, Larry Cresse of Sedalia, MO., and Tim Cresse of Warrington, PA.; two daughters, Cathy Keele of Windsor, MO., and Linda Dalton of Osawatomie; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. The Rev. Curtis Roesch officiated. Music was provided by Bonnie Wendt. The sones were "Amazing Grace" and "Just Passing Through".
