EVERETT LEROY OBERMEIER

Services for Everett Leroy Obermeier, 46, Olathe, who died Monday, Sept. 27, 1979 in the University of Kansas Medical Center, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Osawatomie. The Rev. S. J. Weitharn officiated. Mrs. Nelle Dollar played organ selections.

Pallbearers were Dwight Gander, Ed Obermeier, Jim Gilchrist, Johnny Billam, Bill Ricci and Frank Haney, Jr. Serving in an honorary capacity were Clay Gander, Bill Kubick, John Noone, William Bethune and Ed Minton.

Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery under the direction of the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home with full military graveside services.

Mr. Obermeier was born May 11, 1933 in Louisburg, the son of Edward and Pearl Morgan Obermeier. He attended grade school in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1951.

From 1951 to 1964, he was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a yard clerk. He served two years as a medic with the U. S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He also served additional time in the Army Reserve whil living in Osawatomie.

May 29, 1958, he was married in Osawatomie to Mary Jo Ricci and three sons were born to them. In 1964 the family moved to Olathe where he was employed as a metal finisher for the General Motors Corporation in Fairfax.

Oct. l, 1977, Mr. Obermeier was married in Olathe to Valeta Prothe Kipper.

He was a member of the Catholic Church, the Hanlin-Kelly Post No. 2258, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Osawatomie and the United Auto Worker Local No. 31.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his sons, Steven Jude Obermeier of the home, Thomas Scott and Andrew Leroy Obermeier of Venice, Fla.; his mother, Mrs. Pearl Obermeier of Osawatomie; three brothers, Glenn Obermeier, Joplin, Mo., Arthur Lloyd Obermeier, Roeland Park, and Harry C. Obermeier, Osawatomie; and one sister, Mrs. Roberta Hime, Shawnee.
