Eleanor Louise Rhoades, age 80, of Paola, Kansas, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center.

Eleanor was born July 21, 1932 at Paola, Kansas. She was the daughter of Harley and Gladys (Hoyle) Hickman. She was the second of their five childen. She graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1950.

She was united in marriage to Marvin Rhoades on January 14, 1956 at Eureka, Kansas. They made their home in Osawatomie and to this union three children were born. They moved to Baldwin in 1986; in 1993 they moved to Camdenton, Missouri.

It was in September, 2000 when they moved back to Paola.

Eleanor was a cook at Frank's Tavern in Paola from the 1960s until the early 1970s. She also worked at Bendix/King Radio in Paola during the 1970s. In the latter years of 2000, she worked in the deli department at Price Chopper in Paola.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin who died June 18, 2003, and her sister Lorene Wright.

She is survived by her daughters Carol Howard and Harley Rhoades both of Olathe, Kansas; four sons, Mike Casida of Butler, Missouri, Don Casida of Grandview, Missouri, James Rhoades of Rochester, Minnesota, and David Rhoades of Paola, Kansas; three brothers Kenneth Hickman of Coffeyville, Kansas, Clifford Hickman of Spring Hill, Kansas, and George Hickman of Paola, Kansas; 22 grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
