APRIL 22, 1932 - DECEMBER 13, 2015

Betty Jo Cooper, 83, Diamond, died Sunday, December 13, 2015, at home and in peace with her family.

She was born April 22, 1932, in Bush City, Kansas, to Charles Marion Case and Vivian Freda (Eden) Case. Mrs. Cooper attended and graduated from Osawatomie, Kansas High School with the Class of 1950 and attended nursing school immediately after high school.

She was a homemaker, cattle rancher and business owner. Together with her husband, she had at one time owned and operated the Tara Motel and Joplin Trailer City.

She served on the Diamond School PTA for a number of years and served several years as President. She was a member of Job’s Daughters International and was a member of the Diamond Christian Church.

Mrs. Cooper’s greatest joys in life were taking care of her family, gardening, jitterbugging with her late husband and tending to her flock of chickens and ducks, which gave her so much happiness. She was a dedicated amateur genealogist who spent countless hours researching her family’s history and made several long distance trips with her late husband to meet her newly discovered relatives and walk the lands of her ancestors.

Betty Jo married George Darrell Cooper of Paola, Kansas on April 24, 1952 in Harrison, Arkansas. Darrell preceded Betty in death on Sunday, December 13, 2009.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Dean Cooper and wife, Nancy of Columbia, MO and Bruce Curtis Cooper and wife, Cindy of Chillicothe, IL; a daughter, Kelly Coleen Cooper-Hall and husband, Pete of Webb City, MO; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

The family of Betty Jo Cooper lovingly expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Lynn Duffeld and all of the wonderful and caring people of Hospice Compassus who were a part of Betty’s final years. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Betty’s caregivers who became a part of the family, Sara West, Kathy Riddle, Amy Mullins and Tambera Horn.
