Mary Joyce Carmichael Bowers, 87, of Evans, WV, passed away July 28, 2020

in the Hospice unit at CAMC, Memorial Division.

She was born January 20, 1933 in Osawatomie,KS, the daughter of the late

Cecil L. and Mildred Frances (Phares) Carmichael.

On June 24, 1950, she married Roy J. Bowers and they raised three children

together.  She would become a Navy wife of 20 years, living in California,

Washington, Iceland and Florida.  She was a Girl Scout leader and worked as

a registered nurse.

During their retirement years, Roy and Joyce enjoyed traveling in their Airstream

all over the United States, Canada and Mexico.  They had many friends who 

would join them as a caravan making new experiences.

They finaly moved to Evans, and bought a home across the street from their 

son and daughter-in-law.  Joyce lived out her final years with her husband and

a view of the Bowers farm that is located across the street from their home.

In addition to her huband of 70 years, Roy, she is also survived by their 

children, Cathy B. Magouyrk, Steven R. Bowers and Cindy B. Thomas;

six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to:  The Alzheimer’s Association,

1601 2nd Ave, Charleston, WV 25387.

There will be no public services.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Casto

Funeral Home, Evans. WV.
