Doris Margarite Cook 98, passed away on November 12, 2019 at her residence in Kansas City, Kansas.  She was born on September 27, 1921 in Mound City, Kansas to Homer and Violet Sullivan Woodson. The family moved to Osawatomie when she was six years old and was raised by her mother and stepfather Bob Martin.   Doris grew up in Osawatomie, Kansas where she graduated from Osawatomie High School in Osawatomie, Kansas in 1940. 

Doris married Calvin Cook in 1945 in Osawatomie, Kansas, to this union four children were born. The marriage ended in a divorce.

She joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1964. And she began to work for the Osawatomie State Hospital as a Dietary Supervisor, where she worked and retired from in 1984 after nineteen years of service.  She moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1999 to live near relatives.  She loved watching sports she was an avid sport fan, she enjoyed gardening and Hummingbirds.

Doris was preceded in death by her father, Homer Woodson; mother, Violet Martin and stepfather, Robert Martin; sister, Clara Bernice Woodson; children, Calvin Cook Jr. and Deborah Dillard and great grandson, Jamil Miller.

She leaves to cherish her memory children, Barbara Watkins (Richard Jr.); and Sheila Davis (Glenn); grandchildren, Richard Watkins III (Sherí); Crystal Munsell (Ryan); Roxanne Harris (Claude); Dierdre Watkins Schweitzer; Bridget Locke (Martino Sr.); and Kisha Parker (Kevin); great grandchildren, Great-Anthony Umukoro; Raymond Gray Jr.; Dionté Gray; Brandon Gray; Jazmine Schweitzer; Terrez Schweitzer; Kyle Parker; Kenzie Parker; Kamryn Parker; Martino Locke Jr.; Zoë Locke; Brennan Locke; Hannah Harris; Rachel Harris; Trinity Harris; Christopher Haynes; Elijah Miller; Catalina Munsell; and Christopher Vance; great-great grandchildren, Zamian Vance; Marcelo Miller; Elis Miller; and Eevee Morrison
