JULY 17, 1922 - JANUARY 18, 2010

Barbara Jane Reid, 87, reident of Mutual 5, Leisure World, Seal Beach, CA, died January 18, 2010.

Mrs. Reid was born July 17, 1922, in Arkansas City, KS to Charles R. and Wilda A. Pierce.

She lived with her aunt and uncle in Osawatomie, attended Osawatomie Schools and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1939. Barbara attended the Methodist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher.

She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

She worked as the supervisor of the West Orange County Courthouse, Traffic Control Division, in Westminster.

She moved to Leisure World from Huntington Beach, Calif., in 1980.

She was a member of the Kansas Club, American Legion, Woman's Club of Leisure World and her church circle. She was also involved with the CoMar Wave (Navy League).

She traveled extensively through the United States, and visited Australia, New Zealand, parts of Europe and Mexico. She cruised through the Panama Canal. Caribbean, Alaska, and Hawaii.

Mrs. Reid is survived by her sons, Marvin (Judie), Russell (Kathy), Merle (Mary); eight grandchildren, Jeff, Barbara, Chris, Laurie, Jason, Casey, Michael and Jaime; ten great- grandchildren, Taylor, Jordon, Jacob, Morgan, Mason, Mia, Aviana, Peter, Aurora and Lian; and her brother, William Pierce.

Services. directed by Advantage Mortuary and officiated by the Rev. Jim Oliver, will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m. at Leisure World Community Church. Burial was at Riverside National Cemetery on Jan. 25.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Leisure World Community Church in memory of Barbara.
