PAUL LESTER LANNING

Graveside services were held Monday in Osawatomie Cemetery for Paul Lester Lanning, Coffeyville.

He died Thursday, May 28, 1998 in Coffeyville Regional Medical Center at the age of 78.

The son of Paul Lester and Vera Marie Goodrich Lanning, he was born March 18, 1920 in Parker. He attended Osawatomie schools and was a 1939 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

Following graduation he began working for Missouri Pacific Railroad in Hoisington. He later enlisted in the U. S. Army and served in Iceland. After his discharge he returned to Hoisington to work for the railroad.

On March 4, 1945 he married Bertha Pinneo in Osawatomie. They lived in Hoisington, Conway Springs, Fredonia and Coffeyville. Mr. Lanning retired from the railroad in 1981 as a conductor.

He was a former local chairman for the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and a member of First United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 20 of Coffeyville.

Among those preceding him in death was a sister, Helen Punshon
