Juene Cappuccilli Carney, 82, El Paso, Texas, a native of Osawatomie, died Nov. 25, 2004 in El Paso. She was born May 2, 1921, in Osawatomie, the daughter of Frank and Viola Troxel Briggs. She was orphaned at the age of 9 and then lived with her uncle and aunt, Bruce and Ota Dickey, in Osawatomie. After her graduation in 1939 from Osawatomie High School, she moved to the Southwest where she spent most of the remainder of her life.

She was employed by Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque, N.M., and later owned a restaurant in El Paso.

She received a bachelor of arts degree in art from the University of Texas. She loved to create beautiful things and especially liked to paint roses.

Those preceding her in death were her first husband, Carl R. Cappuccilli, Sr.; her second husband, Fabian James Carney; a son, Gino G. Cappuccilli; and her brother, Richard E. Briggs.

Survivors include a son, Carl R. Cappuccilli, Jr. of El Paso, and seven grandchildren.

Cremation. Burial of ashes at Elmdale Cemetery in Osawatomie.
