OCTOBER 23, 1918 - JANUARY 5, 1994

Elmer R. Wheeler, 75, a native of Parker and former resident of Osawatomie, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, Jan. 5, 1994, at his home in Independence, Mo.

He was born Oct. 23, 1918, at Parker, the son of Robert and Lillian Henry Wheeler. He attended school in Osawatomie graduating with the Class of 1938. He moved to the Independence area 45 years ago.

Mr. Wheeler was a carman for the Kansas City Southern Lines for 30 years retiring in 1983.

He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Fraas-Fain Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Surviving are two sons, Sidney L. Wheeler of Independence, Mo., and Robert M. Wheeler of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, Jim Stringham of Paola and Walter G. Stringham of Bucyrus; a sister, Dorothy Nease of Concordia, Kan.; and two grandvchildren.

Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel. Burial was in Mount Washington Cemetery.
