LOUIE "LINNA" FRANCES LEE BOLEN

Louie "Linna" Frances Bolen, age 87, of Osawatomie, died Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Center in Olathe, Kansas.

Linna was born September 13, 1919 at Osawatomie, Kansas. She was the daughter of George and Ida Naomi (Long) Lee. She was the youngest of their four children. She attended school in Osawatomie graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1938.

She was married to James Marion Bolen on March 14, 1942. They made their home in Cherryville, Kansas and became the parents of nine children. They moved to Osawatomie in the mid 1940s.

Linna worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital for many years. She started there in August of 1956 and worked as a psychiatric aide until April of 1978 when she became a licensed mental health technician. She resigned from the State Hospital in May of 1978 after suffering from a stroke and becoming disabled.

She had been active in the Eastern Star in her younger years.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died May 1, 1991, her parents, three brothers, one daughter Marian Carol who died at the age of 4, an infant granddaughter Michelle McIntosh, and a grandson Jeff Bolen who died as a young adult.

She is survived by three sons James M. Bolen, Jr. of Junction City, Kansas, William L. Bolen of Dublin, Georgia, and Charles A. Bolen of San Diego, California; five daughters Bessie J. Kilgore of Dublin, Georgia, Colleen Berry of Osawatomie, Lois Anglen of Branson, Missouri, Idris Dougherty of Iola, Kansas, and Martha McIntosh of LaCygne, Kansas; 18 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2006 at the Beagle Cemetery, Osawatomie, Kansas. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home. She will lie in state after 1 p.m. Thursday. Memorials are to the Johnson Cancer Center at Kansas State University.
