MARTHA BELLE HENNEY WHITEFORD

APRIL 4, 1919 - FEBRUARY 9, 1969

Martha Belle Whiteford, 49, who was born April 4, 1919 in Cape Girardeau, Mo., died February 2, 1969. She lived in several communities in Missouri and then in Memphis Tenn. She moved to Osawatomie in 1928, where she attended the Osawatomie schools and graduated in 1938.

In June 1939 she was married to James Mitchell Brown. To them one son was born. Mr. Brown was killed in an automobile accident in June 1946. On May 2, 1948 she was married to Ivan Whiteford. In 1954 they moved to Bailey, Colo., where they resided until October 1968. She then made her home with her sister in Osawatomie.

Mrs. Whiteford was a member of the Platte Canyon Community church, Order of Eastern Star in Salida, Colo., and the Jane Jefferson Democratic club. Her main interests were her home and family, but she took an active part in all charitable and community activities.

Survivors are her son, James Stanton Whiteford, of Golden, Colo.; one grandson, Daniel M.; and one sister, Mrs. Alice Flint, of Osawatomie.

Funeral services were held in the Birchard Funeral Home Wednesday with Rev. Robert Peters officiating. Mrs. John Dollar played organ selections. Pallbearers were Ralph Platz, Grover Thompson, Richard Tyrell, Joseph Whiteford, W. G. Landers and Fred Wicke. Burial was in the Osawatomie cemetery.
