CLASS OF 1938 JULY 4, 1917 - OCTOBER 30, 1988 Robert Earl Brunts, 71, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 30, 1988, at his home in Osawatomie. Bob , as he was known, was born July 4, 1917, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Earl Alder and Caroline Niblo Brunts. The family moved to Council Grove.. He had lived in Osawatomie since he was just a small child. He attended school in Osawatomie and graduated with the Class of 1938. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. Mr. Brunts began working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a carman in 1947. He retired in 1981 due to poor health. He was a member of the Church of God International at Independence, Mo. He was also a member of the Carmen's Union and the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks 921 of Osawatomie. He had been a volunteer fireman since the early 1950s. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Charlene Brunts of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Roberta Vest of Osawatomie, and Mrs. Becky Weller of Rock Port, Mo.; two brothers, George W. "Juddie" Brunts of Claflin, Kan., and Bill Brunts, of Rescue, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Orene McClellan of Blue Springs, Mo., and Mrs. June Barnett of Whetstone, Ariz.; and three grandchildren. The services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home with Larry Miller officiating. The burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery. The pallbearers were Jim Maxwell, Fred Hines, George Hall, John Marshall, Lenny Pearce and George Crosby. Memorials were given to the American Heart Association in his name. |
