FREDA BOLLING COLBERT

Edith Freda Colbert, 81, Osawatomie died Saturday, July 14, 2001, in Medical Lodges, a nursing facility in Gardner.

She was born Dec. 29, 1919, in Foster, Mo., to Fred and Beulah McCall. The family moved to Osawatomie in 1925. She was adopted in 1932 by Otis Bolling, shortly after his marriage to her mother. She graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1938. She was married to Francis R. Colbert in Mound City in 1939. They became the parents of seven children. Her husband preceded her in death.

Mrs. Colbert was an avid quilter and had been a member of the Miami County Quilters Guild for several years. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Osawatomie.

Others preceding her in death were two children, Robert and Francis, and four brothers, Les, Clifford, Henry and Wesley.

Surviving are her three daughters, Gloria Jean Donaghy of Phoenix, Ariz., Carolyn Suzy Crupper of Edgerton and Roberta Ann Johnson of Topeka; two sons Michael A Colbert of Baxter Springs, Kan., and F. Kevin Colbert of Osawatomie; a brother, Jess Alfred Bolling; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A rosary was said Tuesday night in Wilson and Son Funeral Home in Paola, followed by a visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. The funeral Mass was Wednesday morning in the church, and burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.

Memorials can be made in her name to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
