Lela Von Bonner, 83, Osawatomie, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999 in Heritage Manor.

Born Aug. 17, 1916 in Lane, she was the daughter of Edward P. and Lottie R. Rhodes Baffrey. She was a 1938 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

Mrs. Bonner was employed at the Osawatomie State Hospital from May 19, 1952 until retiring Aug. 30, 1976. She was a psychiatric aide.

On March 10, 1956 she and Edward Michael Bonner were married in Osawatomie where they made their home.

Among those preceding her in death were her husband, Edward; two brothers, Johnny and Alvie Baffrey; and three sisters.

Survivors include two stepsons, Edward Michael Bonner, Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind. and Stephen E. Bonner of Osawatomie; one brother, Robert Baffrey of Osawatomie; 13 stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Wednesday in Osawatomie Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jed Birchard, Matt Birchard, Michael Bonner, Luke Buckman and Jason Bonner. Arrangements were under the direction of Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.
