BRUCE LEE DICKEY

Bruce L. Dickey, 93, died peacefully Sunday, July 8, 2012, at North Point Skilled Nursing, Paola, Kansas in the company of his children.

Bruce was born March 6, 1919, to Bruce V. and Ota L. Dickey in Osawatomie, Kansas. He graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1937. He studied at Kansas State University until the passing of his father.

He was married to Berniece “Toots” Lentz on September 1, 1941, at the Lentz home in Wagstaff, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Navy Sea-bees from 1942 until war's end in 1945. He served in the Pacific Theater from the Aleutian Islands to the Philippines.

Bruce was a banker for most of his working life. He was at Citizens Bank twice in his career, as well as banks in Johnson and Wyandotte counties of Eastern Kansas. He was active in the Lions Club and Rotary. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Paola

He and Toots retired to Paola in 2005, building a home in Rockwood. Bruce always had a smile and a good word for everyone. His memory for names and faces was phenomenal.

He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed football and discussing current events. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Toots, in October of 2011, and two sisters Genevieve and Gladys.

Survivors include his daughter, Judy Fleeman, her husband Tom of Overland Park, Kansas and son Scott Dickey and Sandy of Wagstaff, Kansas, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Paola, Kansas.

Interment: Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM, Wagstaff Cemetery, 255th & Ridgeview, Wagstaff, Kansas
