CLASS OF 1937 JANUARY 27, 1919 - JANUARY 21, 2001 Evelyn Weaver, 81, longtime Paola resident and retired businesswoman, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Center and Hospital in Gardner. She was born Jan. 27, 1919, in Coffeen, Illl., to Daniel Oscar and Cuma Elam Bost. She attended Osawatomie High School and graduated in 1937. She was married July 24, 1940, to James Francis Weaver in Ottawa. Mrs. Weaver was employed at Coker's Fair Store from 1937 to 1946 and worked at the Paola Floral Greenhouse in the mid 1950s. She and her husband owned and operated Weaver's Green Thumb in Paola from 1961 until their retirement in 1995. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Paola. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Miami County Medical Center Auxiliary and a life member of the Disabled Veteras Association. Surviving are her husband, Francis Weaver of the home; two sons, James Philip Weaver of Bartlesville, Okla., and Michael Edward Weaver of Osawatomie; a daughter, Margaret Ann Barnes of Edmond, Okla.; two brothers, Caleb O. Bost of Cottage Hills, Ill., and Ward Bost of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Mildred Porritt of Caledonia, Mich., and Vivian Prater of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services were Wednesday at the Wilson and Son Funeral Home in Paola. Burial was in Paola Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her name to Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Center.
