MARTHA TUTTLE AINSWORTH

 CLASS OF 1936

1917 - SEPTEMBER 20, 2007

Martha Tuttle Ainsworth passed away on September 10, 2007.

She is survived by her sons, Peter and Barry and her daughter, Ann Diaz. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Martha was born and raised in Osawatomie, Kansas, the youngest of five sisters, all whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1936.

Martha received a B.S. degree in Library Science from Kansas State University. She married and moved to Southern California. She retired from the Los Angeles County Library System. Most of that time was spent as a Librarian and Children's Librarian in Claremont, California. She very much enjoyed reading to the children and they, in turn, enjoyed her. She was also Head Research Librarian at Honnold Library of the Claremont Colleges. Claremont is where her family was raised.

She was a wonderful working mother. In her retirement years, she took many short trips within the country. Martha enjoyed socializing with her friends and, of course, was extremely well-read. She was very much loved and admired by her family.

She will be memorialized at the Cook family plot in Osawatomie, Kansas. Stone Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
