CLASS OF 1936 OCTOBER 31, 1918 - DECEMBER 29, 2001 Dorothy D. Hicks, 83, Osawatomie, died December 29, 2001 in the Life Care Center of Osawatomie. She was born October 31, 1918, in Lane, the oldest of the children of Lowell Herbert and Elsie Mae Hoffman Suddarth. She attended Osawatomie High School and graduated with the Class of 1936. After graduation, she attended a beauty school and worked as a beautician until 1960. She and Robert L. Burnett were married April 14, 1940,in Osawatomie. They lived in Osawatomie until moving to Denver. CO, in 1952. They became the parents of one daughter. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1958. On October 8, 1960, she and Gilbert W. Hicks were married in Pueblo, CO. They lived in Pueblo until his death March 14, 1993. She returned to Osawatomie in June 1993. Mrs. Hicks was a member of the First Christian Church of Osawatomie. She was a former member of Osawatomie Chapter No. 26 of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Golden Age Club and the Osawatomie Community Senior Service Center, all of Osawatomie. Others preceding her in death were a sister, Gladys Buchanan; a stepson, Lyle Hicks; and one stepgrandson, Wayne Reagan. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Anderson of Osawatomie; three stepchdilren, Gwen Higdon, Joan Reagan and Jack Hicks, all of Pueblo, CO; two grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; many great-grandchildren and some great-great-grandchildren. Services were in the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home with burial in Imperial Gardens in Pueblo. Memorials were to the church. |
