DECEMBER 13, 1917 - OCTOBER 27, 1990

Rebecca Rohrer, 72, Kansas City, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 27, 1990, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

More commonly known as Becky, she was born on the family farm west of Paola on Dec. 13, 1917, to Frederick E. and Pearle Lane Rohrer.

She attended grade school at Mound Valley, District No. 81 and graduated from the Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1936. She attended the College of Paola, where she learned secretarial work.

In 1947 she moved to Kansas City, Mo., where she worked as bookkeeper at Berbiglia Inc. and Price Candy Co. She also worked at a branch of the Kansas City Public Library and was a computer operator at United Farm Agency from which she retired in 1985.

Her pastimes were sewing, cooking, doing needlework and keeping a neatly mowed lawn at her farm home in Miami County.

She and her sister, Isabel Rohrer, traveled through 49 states and Canada and were planning an Alaskan trip to complete their record of the 50 states of the United States.

She made many friends in the Burroughs Audubon Society, of which she was a member for many years. The many outings kept her in touch with nature.

The survivors include a brother, Daryl Rohrer of Paola, and two sisters, Isabel Rohrer of Paola, and Helen Barnett of Osawatomie. An aunt, Frankie McGuire of Osawatomie also survives.

A visitation was held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilson and Son Chapel in Paola. The services were at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, at the chapel. The Rev. Gerald Toburen, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Paola, was the officiant.

"In the Garden" and "Rock of Ages" were sung by Joyce Molina, accompanied on the organ by Virginia Karr.

The burial was in the Paola Cemetery. Serving as the pallbearers were Lloyd Barnett, David Dennis, Lynn Wobker, Bill Griffith and David Brownback.

Memorials have been established in her name to the Burroughs Audubon Society Library of Kansas City, Mo.
