Services for Mrs. Kathryn Arlene Stephens, 59, Osawatomie, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home there with the Rev. Clayton Pittman officiating. Mrs. Jean Young and Miss Nancy Young were soloists and were accompanied on the organ by Mrs. John Dollar. Pallbearers were Edgar Buchanan, Marvin Caylor, Herschel Rayle, Charles Land, Roy Thomas, Eddie Bonner, Edwin Cook and Nelson Weide. Clyde Day, Joe Jimenez, John Clearwater, Jay Swogar, Jess Ross and Joe Shofner were honorary pallbearers. Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.

Mrs. Stephens died July 21, 1977 at the Miami County Hospital. She was born April 14, 1918 in Parker, the daughter of C. W. and Jessie D. Woods Pool. She moved to Osawatomie at the age of six years and attended the Osawatomie schools graduating from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1936. For over seven years she was a cashier for the Y-D Cafe. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, a member of the Philathea Class, held different offices in the PTA and served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts for four years.

June 23, 1940 she was married to Virgil Stephens and they had one son, Doran. Both of them survive as do two grandchildren.
