MARVIN J. "BUD" LHUILLIER

CLASS OF 1936

JUNE 19, 1918 - MAY 31, 2003

Marvin J. Lhuillier was born June 19, 1918 in Pleasanton, Kansas, one of three children born to Marvin Cornelius and Avis Loree Mays Lhuillier. The family moved to Osawatomie in 1920. He attended the local schools and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1936. He then went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was a Yard clerk and retired in 1978. He was united in marriage to Betty Lee Gilpin at the parsonage in Parker, Kansas on April 30, 1940. They became the parents of two children.

He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He entered the Navy in November of 1943 and served until December of 1945. He was Gunners Mate 2nd Class and served in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard. Bud was an active member and volunteer of the community. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, B.P.O.E., Osage Valley Lodge #24 AF&AM, Men's Golf Club and MARRVE all in Osawatomie and the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Clayton. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty, of the home; his daughter and her husband, Geribeth and Richard Auslander, Overland Park, Kansas; his son and his wife, Dennis and Christine Lhuillier, Longview, Texas; his sister, Marjorie Fixley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his sister-in-law, Elaine Lhuillier of Lenexa, Kansas; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
