MAXINE VAN HORN LEE

CLASS OF 1935

SEPTEMBER 17, 1915 - OCTOBER 30, 1999

Maxine Lee, 85, a former long-time resident of Louisburg and native of Osawatomie, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born Sept. 17, 1915, at Osawatomie, the daughter of Jess and Rose Coleman VanHorn. She graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1935. She lived most of her life at Louisburg.

She was married to Max Lee on March 21, 1939, at Louisburg. They made their home there. He died Feb. 15, 1989. She later moved to Fort Wayne to be near her son.

Mrs. Lee was city clerk for the city of Louisburg for many years before retiring.

She was a member of the Louisburg Order of the Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church of Louisburg.

Others preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Edna Croan of Paola, who died Feb. 10, 1994.

Her son, James Lee, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren are among the survivors.

Services were Wednesday at the Runyan Chapel in Louisburg. Burial was in the Louisburg Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roger Croan, Carl Croan, Don Croan and Bill Johnston, nephews, and David Whitley and David Alderson.
