APRIL 27, 1916 - AUGUST 29, 1994

Services for George L. Williams, 4 W. Dewey, Paola, are set for 1:30 pm Friday in Wilson and Son Funeral Home. Mr. Williams, a longtime Osawatomie resident, died Monday, Aug. 29, 1994 in Olathe Medical Center. He was 78. 

He was born April 27, 1916 in Osawatomie and his parents were Leonard and Sadie Diediker Williams. He was a 1934 graduate of Osawatomie High School. He had lived in Paola since 1962. Mr. Williams was an electrician for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 12 years. He retired from the Osawatomie State Hospital in 1978 and was a member of International Electrical Workers Union. He and Katherine Lyder were married July 19, 1940 in Warrensburg, MO. 

He was a member of the Plum Creek United Methodist Church. Among those preceding him in death were one brother and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Katherine, of the home; three sons, Robert L. Williams and Donald E. Williams, Fort Worth, TX, and James M. Williams, Jefferson City, MO; two daughters, Karen Attebery, Olathe, and Donna K. Torrez, Spring Hill; a sister, Hellen Whitney, Osawatomie, 13 grandchildren; and 13 great- grandchildren. 

Music will be provided by Jeff Williams and Virginia Karr, organists, and Karen Williams, soloist. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p, Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Paola Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name to the American Cancer Society.
