Helen L.Skeens Wheatley, 78, of Ontario, Oregon, died Wednesday, March 15, 1995, in a Boise hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at the Ontario First Christian Church. The Rev. Bill Cooley will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Ontario. Arrangements are under direction of the Ontario Lienkaemper Chapel.

Helen was born Nov. 10, 1916, at Osawatomie, Kan., a daughter of William and Hazel Ricketts Skeens. She was raised and educated in Osawatomie, where she graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1934. Following high school she worked as a dental assistant, bookkeeper, and telephone operator.

She married C. W."Bill" Wheatley on Feb. 27, 1941, at St. Joseph, Mo. Later that year they moved to Ontario, Ore., where she had since resided. While in Ontario, she worked for Malheur Home Telephone Co., retiring after 35 years of service.

She was a member of the Ontario First Christian Church.

Helen especially enjoyed her family and her friends. She also enjoyed her pets and antiquing.

We should all remember Helen for her unconditional love that she gave to everyone.

She in survived by her husband, C.W. "Bill" Wheatley of Ontario; a son and daughter in-law, Robert and Chrystine Wheatley of Ontario; a daughter, Mary K. Wheatley of Boise; three grandchildren, Christopher and wife, Beth Wheatley, Sara Wheatley and Erin Wheatley, all of Ontario; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Skeens of Osawatomie, Kan., Don Skeens of Overland Park, Kan., and Milton Skeens of Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Marie Shelden of Osawatomie, Marguerite Sims of LaCygne, Kan., and Virginia Fries of Ontario; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Stanton of Pomona, Calif. and Emily Strey of Ontario; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Warren; and a sister, Frances.

Memorials may be made to the Ontario First Christian Church, the American Diabetes Foundation, or to a favorite charity.
