JOAN SHORT VERON

SEPTEMBER 10, 1916 - OCTOBER 15, 2010

Joan Roberta Veron of Coffeyville passed away Friday, October 15, 2010 at Medicalodge in Coffeyville. She was 94.

Joan was born on September 10, 1916 in Concordia, Kansas to Edward and Laura (Creech) Short. She grew up in the Osawatomie, Kansas area where she received her education - graduating from Osawatomie High School with the class of 1934.

On June 24, 1937 she was united in marriage to Leslie Eldon Veron. The couple made their home in Coffeyville.

Joan worked as a secretary for the First United Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville and also as a People Greeter for Walmart. She was also an actress. She participated in the Coffeyville Community Theatre and the CCC Theatre program. Joan appeared in some television commercials and several movies. She was the leader of "The Friendship Club".

Survivors include her son Jean R. Veron and wife Lydia of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Scott, Jeff, Jonathan, Jeshua, Isaac, Sherah and seven great-grandchildren.

She was precedced in death by her parents and loving husband, Leslie.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorial contribution can be made to the CCC Theatre Program. These may be left with the funeral home.
