CARL R. KESTER

CLASS OF 1934

NOVEMBER 22, 1916 - DECEMBER 18, 1976

Carl R. Kester, 125 Pacific Ave., died Saturday, December 18, 1976, in the Miami County Hospital. Services for Mr. Kester, 60, were held Wednesday in the United Presbyterian Church.

The son of Harve and Lillie Sullivan Kester, he was born Nov. 22, 1916 in Boicourt. At an early age, he moved with his parents to Osawatomie where he attended school and graduated with the Class of 1934 of Osawatomie High School.

On Sept. 27, 1941, he married Margaret Whitney Tenpenny in Olathe. He was employed by Proctor and Gamble in Kansas City until 1942 when he began a career with the Missouri Pacific Railroad.

Mr. Kester was a member of the United Presbyterian Church; Osage Valley Lodge No. 24, AF&AM; Ark Chapter No. 80, R.A.M.; Three Times Nine Council NO. 3, R.S.M.; Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 921; and the United Transportation Union.

Among the survivors are the widow, Margaret, of the home; three sons, Patrick Tenpenny, Osawatomie, Richard Tenpenny, Iola, and Carl Robert Kester, Meriden; a brother, Harvey C. Kester, Los Angeles, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

The Rev. Alan B. Smith conducted the services. Dean Diediker sang, acompanied by Mrs. John Dollar, organist. Pallbearers were Lloyd Trout, John Punshon, Bob Wilson, Wayne Fairchild, Nelson Weide and Frank Toops. Masonic services were held in the church. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery under the direction of Birchard Funeral Home, Inc.
