Wayne Willard Weber, 84, a former Osawatomie resident, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at his home in Albuquerque, N.M.

The son of William H. and Margaret Rohrer Weber, he was born Oct. 10, 1915, in Lawrence. His parents owned a small grocery store in Lawrence and later moved to Ottawa, where they had another grocery. He attended grade school at Ottawa.

The family moved to Osawatomie in 1923, where his father organized the American State Bank. He graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1933 and attended the University of Kansas for a short time.

He was a storekeeper in the U. S. Navy during World War II and served in the United States and the South Pacific.

After his military service, Mr. Weber returned to the American State Bank where he was an officer. He continued in that employment until the mid-1950s and had several other occupations before retiring.

He was married about 1948 or 1949 to Laura Cipperone at Osawatomie. They became parents of two daughters, Greta and Sondra. The couple later divorced.

In recent years, Mr. Weber lived in several locations, including Albuquerque, Phoenix, Ariz., St. Joseph, Mo., and Clinton, Mo.

A favorite pastime was singing in the choir.

He made frequent visits to Paola to visit his sister and her family and always considered her home his home.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Alden Weber and Leland Weber, and his sister, Nadine Schwartz.

A sister, Velma Weber Huddleston of Santa Rosa, Calif., survives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. Burial will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery.
