CLASS OF 1933 FEBRUARY 10, 1915 - JANUARY 1971 Funeral services for Robert L. Tyrell, 56, of 112 N. Park Blvd., who died early Wednesday in Coffeyville Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack about three weeks ago at his home, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Ford Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ned. M. Roberts, pastor of the First Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmdale Cemetery at Osawatomie, with graveside services to be held at 5 p.m. Born February 10, 1915 at Coffeyville, Mr. Tyrell was the son of the late Harry R. and Elizabeth B. Tyrell. He moved to Osawatomie with his family as a child and attended school there graduating with the class of 1933. He later attended Fort Scott Junior College where he played basketball under the late Warren "Dink" Littrell. On May 19, 1940 at Fontana, Kan., Mr. Tyrell was married to Helen Rainey. She survives at the home. The couple lived at Kansas City before coming to Coffeyville in 1948. Mr. Tyrell was first employed here at the Co-Op Refinery for several years. He later joined the local post office where he had been employed the past twenty years. Five years ago he became carrier for rural route one and prior to that time had been a post office clerk. Mr. Tyrell was a member of Masonic Lodge 220 at Kansas, Elks Club a Osawatomie and a former Kiwanis member here. He was a member of the National Letter Carriers Association. Survivors in addition to the widow include two sons, Robert L. of Rolling Meadows, Ill., and Richard K. of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Richard R. of Osawatomie; and a grandson. Serving as casket bearers will be Edgar Buchanan of Osawatomie, Carl Buchanan of Hoisington, Herb Lucas of Mulvane and Harold Buchanan, Jack Hollyfield, Norton Norfleet, Jerry Williams and Harve Livingston, all of Coffeyville. The family would welcome memorials to the coronary unit at Coffeyville Memorial Hospital which may be made at the funeral home. |
