MARGARET MULLINS KENDRICK

OCTOBER 9, 1914 - SEPTEMBER 25, 1988

Mrs. Margaret Irene Kendrick, 73, Osawatomie, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 1988, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Osawatomie.

She was born Oct. 9, 1914, in Osawaomie, one of seven children of James J. and Anna Ranney Mullins. She grew up and attended the Jordan country school for eight years. She attended the Osawatomie High School and graduated with the Class of 1933.

After graduation she began working at the Osawatomie State Hospital as a nurse's aid. She moved to Pueblo, Colo., where she worked at the Pueblo State Hospital as a nurse's aid.

She was united in marriage to Clay R. Kendrick in the fall of 1943 in Pueblo. They made their home for a short time in Pueblo and then California, Mo., before returning to Osawatomie in the late 1940s. They became the parents of two sons. The marriage ended in divorce in 1956.

Mrs. Kendrick began working again at the Osawatomie State Hospital in the late 1960s in the housekeeping department. She worked at the Pinecrest Haven Nursing Center and the Osawatomie Rest Home during the 1970s.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a son, Larry Kendrick, and one brother.

Surviving are a son, Robert Kendrick of Osawatomie; a brother, Lorin Mullins of Vinita, Okla.; four sisters, Mrs. Lucille Buther of Bartlesville, Okla., Mrs. Marjorie Dempsey and Mrs. Flora Belle Piggott, both of Osawatomie, and Mrs. Helen Stanley of Omaha, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Elmdale Cemetery in Osawatomie. The Rev. Lewis Heiney officiated. The pallbearers were Harold Stubbs, Bob Stubbs, Jim VanLoenen, Randy Dilliner and Richard Rodriguez.

The burial was under the direction of the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home of Osawatomie.
