CLASS OF 1933 JUNE 8, 1914 - AUGUST 25, 1987 Services for Mary Katherine Ellis of Kansas City, Kan. were held here Aug. 28 in Eddy-Birchard Funeral home. Mrs. Ellis died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1987 in Providence-St. Margaret's Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. She was 73. Born June 8, 1914 near Beagle, she was a daughter of Rolland Henry and Sara Jane Fields Kelley. She attended Osawatomie High School graduating in 1933. On Aug. 4, 1935, she was married to Arthur A. Ellis in Richmond, Mo. They made their home in Osawatomie where they operated a restaurant and also worked at Osawatomie State Hospital. The family moved to Kansas City in 1951. Mrs. Ellis was a member of Victory Hills Baptist Church in Kansas City. She was preceded in death by a daughter, four sisters and eight brothers. Survivors include her husband, Arthur of the home; twin daughters, Jean Hill and Joan Smalley, both of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Jane Bouwkamp of Osawatomie; a brother, Rolland Kelley of Ottawa; six grandchildren and five great-grandsons. The Rev. Gary Rhodes officiated at the services. Music was provided by Nancy Snyder and Jean Smith, with Cheryl Whitney at the organ. Pallbearers were Albert Stanley, Richard Strickland, John Hernandez, John Smalley and James Smalley. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery. A memorial in her name is established to the activity fund at Manor of Kansas City Nursing Home in Kansas City, Kan. |
