JOHN HAROLD BUCHANAN

John Harold "Buck" Buchanan, 62, of Coffeyville, died Thursday morning, January 4, 1979, at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Okla., where he had been admitted Wednesday. He had been in ill health for several months.

Mr. Buchanan was born March 17, 1916, at Galt Ontario, Canada, son of John Wesley and Gertrude Bennett Buchanan. July 30, 1919, he was married to Gladys P. Suddarth at Osawatomie and he was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad. In 1964 Mr. Buchanan took a leave of absence from the railroad because of ill health and they moved to Pueblo, Colo. In 1968 the Buchanans moved to Coffeyville where he again worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and at the time of his death he was an engineer for MOP.

Surviving are his wife of the home; one son, Richard of Costa Mesa, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Patricia) Mason of Piscapaway, N.J.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Edgar Buchanan of Osawatomie and Carl Buchanan of Hoisington.

Services were held Monday at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, Osawatomie, with the Rev. Almon Martin officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Almon Martin at the organ and Mrs. Mary Matney and Fred Longshore singing. Pallbearers were Ernest Jones, R.G. Wilson, Glenn Barnes, James Morehead, Leroy Bromell and Harry Stoner. Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.
