CLASS OF 1932

MARCH 23, 1913 - JULY 25, 2006

Mary Pauline Brocaw, age 93, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, died July 25, 2006, in Westhaven Nursing Home.

Mary was born on March 23, 1913 as the second of seven children born to Alexander Louis David Weaver and Mamie Mae Landers Weaver. Most of her life was spent in Osawatomie where she attended the Osawatomie Schools, graduating with the Class of 1932. After graduation, she worked at the City Laundry and Dry Cleaners for six years.

She and Chester Stucker were married in November, 1939, in Ottawa, Kansas, and made their home in Osawatomie. They were the parents of one daughter. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1961.

Mary was a member of the First Baptist church of Osawatomie and was an active member of the MERA class in her younger years.

She was employed at the Osawatomie State Hospital as a Food Service Worker and Dietary Aide from 1957 to retirement in 1976.

In 1967 she and Robert Brocaw of Fontana, Kansas were married and continued living in Osawatomie until 1986. At that time they moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma to be near her daughter and grandchildren. Her joy was spending time with family, being a homemaker and family caregiver. She loved flowers, gardening and spent many hours sewing and crocheting.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Chester; Brother Alvin, and three sisters, Katherine, Louise and Helen. She is survived by her husband, Robert Brocaw who currently resides at Stillwater Christian Villa in Stillwater, OK. Also surviving are her daughter, Sharon Whitney and husband Richard of Stillwater; four grandsons and their families: Thomas Whitney of Stillwater; David Whitney of Tulsa, OK; James and Lesli Whitney of Augusta, Kansas; and Michael and Sherri Whitney of Broken Arrow, Ok; two great granddaughters: three great grandsons, and two sisters, Evelyn Weaver Diehm and Marjorie Weaver, both of Olathe, KS. She also leaves a host of step-grandchildren and great and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10:00am on Saturday, July 29, 2007 at the Birchard-Eddy Funeral in Osawatomie, Kansas. Instate will be after 1:00 p.m. and Visitation from 6:30 to 8:00p.m. on Friday. Burial will be at the Osawatomie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Judith Karman Hospice in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
