JUNE 21, 1915 - DECEMBER 15, 2008

J. Gertrude Protzman passed away, Monday, Dec. 15th, at the Presbyterian Manor, in Emporia, Ks., where she had lived for the past 3 1/2 years.

Gertrude leaves behind 2 sons, Robert R. Protzman of Ft. Worth, TX, and Ronald G. Protzman, of Emporia, Ks., 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Gertrude, was born June 21, 1915 in Osawatomie, Ks., to Lon and Anna Carlisle Reavis, and spent her early years on the family farm west of Osawatomie, Ks. After graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1932, she moved to Paola and attended Ursuline Academy for 2 years, then was united in marriage to Robert A. Protzman in 1935.

She spent her remaining years in Paola until moving to Emporia.

Gertrude lists two of the more important accomplishments in her life as being an elder in the Presbyterian Church for eight years, and becoming a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Gertrude will be missed by all of her family and everyone who knew her. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 18th from 6:00-7:30 p.m., at the Penwell- Gabel Funeral Home Chapel in Paola, Ks. Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday morning, Dec. 19th, at the Paola Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Paola, in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 305 N. Pearl St. Paola, Ks.
