Thelma Margaret Tyree Price, 93, of Springfield, Missouri, died Saturday, November 25, 2006.

Mrs. Price was born April 12, 1913, in Topeka, Kansas, to Charles and Florence Tyree. She was an only and cherished chid. Her teen years were spent in Osawatomie, Kansas, where she graduated from high school in 1931. She married her high school sweetheart, A. Glenn Price, on September 26, 1931, in Ottawa. They were blessed with nearly 63 years of marriage.

Together, they raised five children and played an essential parenting role in the lives of several other children. Thelma had a welcoming and inclusive heart for all people and animals. She loved music and played several instruments for the joy of it.

Thelma dedicated herself to family, friends and to the service of Christ and His church. She was a charter and supporting member of two congregations, The Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kansas, and later Covenant Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Missouri. She was an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church where she was active in Presbyterian Women and taught classes in prayer. She served the community through Crosslines and Meals on Wheels for many years.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn; an infant daughter, Faith; a daughter, Dorothylee and her husband, Raymond French; and two grandsons.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Charles and Jodi Price, and Dale and Ann Price, all of Springfield; two daughters and their husbands, Susie and Norman Burmont of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Sara and Mark Owen of Springfield; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandhildren; four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 29, in Covenant Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Ward A. Rudolph officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2441 S. Lone Pine, Springfield, MO 65804.
