CLASS OF 1931 JUNE 15, 1912 - NOVEMBER 22, 2003 Mildred N. Smith, 91, Grandview, Mo., a former Paola resident, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Belton Research Hospital. She was born June 15, 1912, in Garnett, the daughter of John and Eva Campbell Tush. She graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1931. On Sept. 3, 1932, she married Ernest "Pete" Smith in Paola. They lived in Paola, and she was a homemaker. After her husband died April 17, 1997, she moved to Grandview to be near her family. Mrs. Smith was a past member of Paola Fraternal Order of Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliaries. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, playing bingo and cards, and spending time with her great-grandchildren. Others preceding her in death were a son, Larry Dean Smith, who died in 1969, a sister, Darlene Billam, and a brother, Glen Tush. Survivors include her three daughters, Donna Smith of Overland Park, Darla Goodwin of Leawood and Linda Russell of Raymore, Mo.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were today (Monday) at the Paola Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her name to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS 66071. |
