Katherine Sterbenz McDougal died Sept. 8, 2013, in Alexandria, La.

The daughter of George and Eva Kelling Sterbenz, she was born in Olathe on March 21, 1914.

Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Osawatomie, where she graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1931.

On Sept. 4, 1933, she married David Francis “Dutch” McDougal. She was a devout Catholic and was active in the Catholic Daughters until she lost her hearing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her granddaughter, Erin Brumfield; brothers, Alysious and Vincent Sterbenz; and five sisters, Loretta Sterbenz, Viola Long, Sister Dorothy M. Sterbenz, Sister Lucille M. Sterbenz and Marie Barrett.

She leaves behind her loving family to cherish her memory. They include her daughter, Loretta McDougal Hargroder and her granddaughter, Brooke Brumfield; son and daughter-in-law, George Raymond (Ray) and Linda McDougal; granddaughter and her husband, Katie McDougal and Wayne Peletier and their daughter, Violet Rae Peletier; grandson, David McDougal, and his daughter, Jillian McDougal
