CLAUDE R. LATIMER

Services for Claude R. Latimer, 67, Osawatomie, were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Birchard chapel in Osawatomie with the Rev. Alan Smith officiating.

Music was provided by Mrs. Ida Phares at the organ. Pallbearers were Johnny Weaver, Joe Weaver, George Weaver, J.C. Bussell, Gail Chambers and Tom Speck, Jr. Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.

Mr. Latimer died Nov. 16, 1976, at St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City. He was born May 22, 1909 in Osawatomie, son of John and Fanny Inman Latimer. He attended the Osawatomie schools and graduated with the class of 1931.

He began working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a bridge and building mechanic in 1936 and remained with the railroad until his retirement in 1962.

On Nov. 4, 1938 he was married to Alice Rhoades in Paola. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way and held a life membership in the Order of DeMolay.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Patty Kern, Wagstaff, and Mrs. Vivian Grant, Osawatomie; six grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Weaver, Osawatomie.
