MARY L. COLE McMAHON

CLASS OF 1931

JANUARY 8, 1914 - APRIL 26, 2005

Mary L. McMahon, 91, Warrensburg, Mo., an Osawatomie native, died Monday, April 25, 2005, at Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg.

The daughter of William L. and Inez DeHart Cole, she was born Jan. 8, 1914, in Osawatomie. After graduating in 1931 from Osawatomie High School, she attended college for two years. She taught first grade for two years before her marriage. She later taught first grade in Lane and in Parker schools.

She and Isaac H. McMahon were married Dec. 5, 1937, in Osawatomie. He preceded her in death in February 1998.

Mrs. McMahon was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a former member of various clubs and organizations. She and her husband were charter members of the Osawatomie Golf Club and she won the ladies' championship several times.

She was a life master at duplicate bridge, an organic gardener and a wonderful cook.

Mrs. McMahon spent all of her life in Osawatomie until October 1999 when she moved to Warrensburg due to failing health.

Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Wareham of Warrensburg and Jacqueline Miller of Pueblo, Colo.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Cremation is planned with a private family service at a later date. Arrangements are being cared for by Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
