Services for Frank Lloyd Coker, Osawatomie, were held Friday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mr. Coker, retired Osawatomie businessman, died Monday, June 19, 1995 in his home. He was 82.

The son of Floyd Glen and Jessie Maude Stewart Coker, he was born March 16, 1913 in Osawatomie. He grew up in Osawatomie, attended local schools and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1931.

After his graduation, he joined his father in the family business, Coker Brothers Store, becoming a second generation retailer of general merchandise. He spent his entire working career on Main Street. The store would become a third generation business before it was sold and Mr. Coker retired in 1981.

He and Lucille Charolette Jenkins were married Oct. 17, 1932 in Madison. They became the parents of three children.

Mr. Coker was an active member of his community and the First United Methodist Church of Osawatomie, where he served on several committees at the church. He was a longtime member of the Osawatomie Chamber of Commerce and a charter member of the Osawatomie Men's Golf Association.

Among those preceding him in death were a daughter, Patty Dee, who died in infancy, and a sister, Hilda Cockran.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille, of the home; two sons, Larry Coker, San Antonio, Texas, and Tom Coker, Olathe; Seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Lee Wiersma officiated. Rosalie Bowker played organ selections. Pallbearers were grandsons, Larry Coker, Jr., Chad Coker, Scot Coker, Bret Coker, Joel Coker, Ryan McDougal, Cory McDougal and Devin Coker. Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.

Memorials have been established in his name to the church and Olathe Hospice.
