CLEDA MAY ZUMBRUM HAHN

Cleda May Hahn, 89, Osawatomie, formerly of Lane, died Thursday, August 16, 2001, at Miami County Medical Center in Paola.

She was born August 19, 1911, in Miami County near Lane, the daughter of Vern Eugene and Phrena Anetta Hutchens Zumbrun. She graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1930.

She was married July 1, 1957, to Walter Fredrick George Hahn in Osawatomie. They lived in Osawatomie and Lane, moving to Pleasanton in 1971. While living in Pleasanton, they established a memorial scholarship fund for Linn County students in memory of Mrs. Hahn's sister, Lola, who died in 1979. They lived in Pleasanton until 1996, when they moved back to Osawatomie. Her husband preceded her in death a week earlier on August 9.

Mrs. Hahn was a real estate agent and worked in Osawatomie for 24 years.

She was a member of the Pleasanton Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekahs and the Business and Professional Women's organization.

She served as justice of the peace in Osawatomie for a number of years and married many couples. She also was secretary of the Osawatomie Alumni Association for many years.

Others preceding her in death include a stepson, Fred Christian Hahn, and her sister, Lola Zumbrun.

Surviving are a stepson, Fred Hahn of Kansas City, Kan.; two stepdaughters, Marlene Smith of Paola and Sylvia Hackenthorn of Las Vegas, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing was after 1 p.m. today (Monday) and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in the Lane Cemetery.
